Apple Glasses: What we Know so Far
What’s the news?
Apple is reportedly releasing a new set of products that are bound to blow the minds of the technology market soon.
Tim Cook has said in early 2017 that AR is a “big idea like the smartphone”. So, Apple has expressed great interest in tomorrow’s technology. “I think AR is that big, it’s huge. I get excited because of the things that could be done that could improve a lot of lives.
What to Expect from the Apple Headset in 2020
The Apple AR\VR is reportedly in the making already with an upcoming release date. The headset is set to compete with Facebook’s Oculus, Microsoft’s Hololens and Google’s Glass.
The headset, with codename N301, is supposedly a slimmer Occulus with both AR and VR capabilities. Its features range from the new 3D sensor system, similar to the Face ID recognition in the new iPhones released. It is said to include a 3D scanning feature as well as advanced human detection.
Apple is more interested in having this piece as a gaming, watching videos and virtual meetings headset as it will use the camera to map the user’s surroundings and blend virtual with reality with a high resolution display, it should seem seamless.
It is also packed with a new operating system based on the iOs called the rOs or Reality Operating System and a system-on-a-package chip similar to the Apple Watch.
Apple Headset vs Apple Glasses
At this point, we know very little about the variation, it is all speculations and rumors. But let’s dive in.
The Apple Glasses are reportedly hitting the market by 2023, according to The Information. They are a smaller version of the Apple Headset with more iPhone-like and AR features. The report suggests “current prototypes look like high-priced sunglasses with thick frames that house the battery and chips”.
Similar to the Apple Headset, the glasses are said to contain the new 3D senor system and the high-resolution AR display.
Apple Glasses Expected Features in 2023
With an AR display, it is hard to believe that Apple is launching this product to ultimately replace iPhones forever. A report by Bloomberg suggests that the Apple Glasses are designed to bring your phone to your face. However, Tech geeks are commenting that the Apple Glasses will more likely be a complementary accessory to the iPhone, much like the Apple Watch, than a full on alternative.
Here is what we know so far about its features:
It is said to not only have the same size as regular glasses, but also generally the average weight with displaying texts, emails, maps, videos and games. Moreover, there are rumors of lenses that darken when used to signal to other people that the person using it is occupied. Apple is also considering adding touch panels, voice and motion activation and virtual meeting rooms according to reports.
